As you can tell I’m now a full fledged member of the Red Cross and got my badges to prove it.  I’m enjoying going in to the Dallas Chapter weekly and volunteering my services to their needs.  I haven’t been on a disaster as yet, but my boss tells me that I will be busy there at the main unit pulling supplies for the scene, should one occur.

Volunteer For Red Cross

May 6, 2010 on 7:02 am | In Arts & Humanities | No Comments

Since I became a volunteer for the Red Cross, I encountered the necessary things it takes to make it happen for the times the units go out to scenes.  I know that it may not look like much to me, but I am giving my time to help as much as I can.  I’m sure the time will come when I will be involved in an actual disaster, if I just stay focused.  For now, I just help with the warehouse supplies and keep things in order.

The Trees

Have you looked at how great the new growth on the trees has taken off?  They were blooming and suddenly they burst into a green hue with the new leaves popping out everywhere.  I love to watch the spring plants and trees unfold each year.  It’s my favorite time of the year, and I hope to see many more of these beautiful springs.

Street People……..

November 2, 2009 on 2:58 pm | In Arts & Humanities, Grief/Loss, Life | No Comments

I know your wondering what I’m talking about? Well, the word “nasty” can be construed, in many different ways. There are mean and nasty people who hurt other’s feelings, with no remorse.
There are nasty people who are just “filthy” and don’t keep themselves clean or their habitats either. I wonder how they can justify their actions? I know that I’m lazy, and have to really push myself to do the necessary house work, to keep things going right. I still get it done……….maybe not when people think I should……..but it gets done.
I’m sure that living on the streets, gives a person the way of life that necessitates being nasty. I think that it’s hard to survive on the streets and yes it can be hard to stay clean. I have gotten too close to some of the street people and the body odor, was nauseating. Needless to say, I got myself further away from the area and let a fresh breeze clear the air. I know that once they are in that shape for awhile, they become accustomed to their smell and don’t realize how they smell to other’s.
There’s other ways people are nasty and I’m at the point I’m not ready to write about any more.

While I’m not much of a reader, there are many of you who love to read.  Several bloggers also like to give book reviews on the latest to be released.  At  Amazon books you can find many different books for your liking.  If you aren’t an avid reader, then you may find one that catches your eye.  They have many new volumes, in all of the categories.
