Unless your an equine informed person, or just ride horses frequently you would be concerned with the term horse tack on a daily basis.  My daughter is a person who trained horses for the last 6 years, and can give you much needed information on obtaining such supplies.  It’s necessary to have good tack when dealing with spirited animals such a thorough breds.

Every year right around Easter time, the weather snaps and gives us cold temps.  I can tell you that this is the way it always happens.  This year the weather, didn’t catch us right on the Easter weekend, but came the next week.  I had a beautiful day on Easter, and that made everyone be in great spirits.

One After Another

It’s been a horrific year, and we haven’t even made it to June.  The disasters just keep happening, and we can’t seem to recover before another hits.  Our area of the country is looking at the June 1st starting date of hurricane season.  Predictions are listed as grim, for most of the coastline areas with category 3 or higher hurricanes expected.  Last year they expected there to be some but we were lucky.  It’s my hope that this year will fail, in any major weather concerns.

My Training

I’ve been 2 months into my “Red Cross“, exposure.  I was overwhelmed at first, with all the things they were trying to get me involved in.  Since I pulled back and slowly eased my way back in their facilities, I have been more at peace with the way things are evolving.
I have started working 1 or 2 days a week in the offices, and have already taken my driving test to be able to drive one of the ERV’s to a scene, should a disaster occur in our area.  I have set up more training for the coming month that will help me get more involved in the work I’m doing.

So, far it’s been a nice laid back setting, and I haven’t been on an “emergency response” as yet.  I’m sure things will be more dire, when my time comes to take part in my first scene.  Right now I’m making sure that they don’t move me too fast and overwhelm me once again with all the different needs, the “Red Cross” has for people to do.

Training

I’m really getting into this Red Cross atmosphere.  It’s something that I can do instead of sit at home all the time being bored.  Since I retired, I’ve mostly been sitting around, wondering what I could do to venture out into the world more often.  With the training I will get here, not only will I be able to venture out, but give something as well.
